Demetrius “Hook” Mitchell
The two had already been working on it for more than a year when news broke out about it. The director of the series, Chopra, shared: It had already started to take on a political and social slant. What started out as an exploration of how the NBA became the most culturally relevant league — with a social aspect — had already taken shape. The Laura Ingraham thing, she gave us the title. So, we went back into the edits for refining.
I Got the Hook Up
Find out what’s happening in the world as it unfolds. Hooking Up in the Digital Age’ CNN HBO’s latest documentary actually owes a debt to science fiction, and the unintended consequences associated with unleashing forces beyond our control. In the case of “Swiped: Hooking Up in the Digital Age,” the monster is the corrosive effects of dating apps that have rapidly led society into uncharted territory — what one expert calls “evolutionary unprecedented waters.

Continue reading Show less Is it any good? Midsummer in Newtown doesn’t try to shock with gory details or bloody reenactments of the shooting; whenever it’s discussed, it’s done so discreetly. Director Lloyd Kramer has good luck with the plucky young performers he chooses to highlight; they almost literally blossom while on stage and on camera — and when the show is over, their sadness is palpable.
Although the film seriously overdoes the treacly piano music, this is a winning, heartwarming, hopeful achievement. Continue reading Show less Talk to your kids about Families can talk about what happened at Sandy Hook. How does Midsummer in Newtown deal with what happened? Does it seem like too much? How would you go about talking about this tragedy with kids? Which is more upsetting to you — seeing violent acts take place on screen or hearing people talk about them?
The Documentary 2.5
Whatever you thought of the song itself, you had to acknowledge that it was one of the greatest marketing ideas in the history of rock music: The band was called Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show and its roots stretched back to a southern band formed in called the Chocolate Papers, which had some success touring but not on disc. Billy Francis, another ex-Chocolate Paper, rejoined his old pals, a couple of other musicians were added and they were soon on their way.
Not much happened with the band—which took on the Dr. The film, which included Dr.
I have seen the Maysles Brothers’ documentary about the Rolling Stones, as well as Jean-Luc Godard’s semi-documentary about the Rolling Stones and Robert Frank’s notoriously unreleased documentary about the Rolling Stones, which legend has it you’re only legally allowed to watch in the presence of both Jagger and Richards. It was only okay. I have seen the special features. I have seen the movie where Chris Holmes from W.
I have seen David Bowie’s cocaine skeleton doing Burroughsian cut-ups on the floor of a luxury hotel in the difficult-to-find TV special Cracked Actor. To varying degrees, I enjoyed all these films, but if you asked me to tell you my very-favorite-ever cinematic document of a rock and roll band, I would have to break down and admit that it’s a dollar import DVD of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show: Live I have seen it at least 30 times.
I’m not saying this little live DVD by a largely forgotten band is better than the abovementioned films by the likes of Scorsese, Godard, Pennebaker, and Bogdanovich. What I am saying, though, is that none of these films has provided me with the same feeling of entertainment verging on sheer life-affirming joy as has Dr. Live, and that none has so consistently reminded me what playing music onstage should, at its very highest point, feel like. I want to explain why to you but, before writing another word, I’d like to promise you something:
He described the challenges of resisting drug dealers as a child, while his family struggled financially. In , he was convicted of armed robbery of a video store; he spent the next five years in prison, during which time he converted to Islam, changed his name to Waliyy Abdur Rahim, and competed in prison games.
Much of the footage for the documentary Hooked was shot during visits with him in prison. Recent life[ edit ] Mitchell was released from prison on April 4, He had served 51 months in prison after being charged with an armed robbery at a Blockbuster store. He went to training camp with the Golden State Warriors but was cut.
One of the alleged victims in Pakistan seems to have been killed twice, as he was also one of the 20 children reportedly killed at Sandy Hook. During a televised report by the BBC of the Pakistan shootings, the reporter is seen walking in front of a wall with pictures of the children killed there. One of the pictures is none other than Noah Pozner , one of the more oft-displayed faces of the 20 children allegedly killed at the Sandy Hook school shootings, in Newtown, Connecticut, on December 14, Bizarrely, Pakistani authorities, officials at the Army Public School where the massacre occurred and the media have identified the boy in the photo as Huzaifa Huxaifa.
Unlike Sandy Hook, photos and videos were shown of the dead children on the scene, including blood, gore, rescue squad members, police, grieving parents and a scene of general pandemonium. Many researchers over the past two years have felt that Sandy Hook lacked the transparency necessary to prove it believable and left many unanswered questions. One of these people is filmmaker and author William Brandon Shanley. Have you seen that picture? Everyone has seen that picture.
My Big Breasts and Me
Recording[ edit ] After The Game signed with the G-Unit, he recorded nine songs with fellow American rapper 50 Cent in his home studio in Farmington, Connecticut , and then went back to Los Angeles, California to complete the album with American record producer Dr. However, the song was left on the cutting room floor. However, in the interview with Funkmaster Flex , The Game said that his status was never uncertain that he would be dropped from the label.
When asked about the album, he stated:

Unfortunately, many people disagree that rape culture at universities and colleges is a widespread issue. This is because many forms of rape culture are normalized in our society. Rape culture is defined really well on Wikipedia as follows: Educational institutions are no exception.
Newtown Is ‘Still So Raw,’ 5 Years After Sandy Hook Shooting
Nothing coy at all. When it came to making my feature Handsome Devil, I was determined that the story would run along the tram lines of a buddy comedy, because even if you believe both the young leads are gay, or not straight by no means a certain thing, itself , then the fullest expression of that friendship, of homosexual friendship, of any friendship is… friendship. No more and no less. Leaving aside the hegemony of the romantic narrative of every hue, the buddy movie remains the least invigorated subgenre of all—sadly still powered more often than not by childish and reductive gay panic which, way more than being offensive, is just dreary.
When it comes to orientation, we no longer live in the age of black and white, so the job of films—mainstream and alternative, comedy and drama—is to explore and prod at that ambiguity.
Honestly, I had passed it over in the suggestions menu several times, but it was one of those late nights where I wanted one last movie and this one was only an hour or so long. The first interesting thing about this film is that it is described as a documentary. In fact, there was no mention of this being a horror film or even found footage in any description I could find. In short, he wanted to make a documentary about the paranormal, and his interest had grown from a viral video that had made the rounds on YouTube of supposed actual paranormal phenomena caught on CCTV.
Over the next hour, I watched as the amateur documentarian went on his own adventure investigating a home in Pennsylvania. Supposedly, in the s, the home was owned by James and Ruth Blackwell. Ruth had a reputation for being a bit strange, so it was no surprise to her neighbors when she was accused of murdering seven children and disposing of their bodies down the well in the basement. Throughout the film, he never once wavers in his assertion that what he and his wife, Terri, are experiencing is actually real.
Furthermore, he backs up those claims with alleged researched proof of the history of the home. What I knew for sure was that it was a hell of a movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. Over the next couple of days, I watched the film five or six more times. I showed it to local friends, and recommended it to others. And really, who could blame them? I began my search with attempting to discover who the filmmaker was.
Don’t punish the rest of us From: You An act by an unstable individual should not reflect on all the responsible and law abiding citizens. Report Broken Independent Media Solidarity is a loose knit group of independent journalists that have come together to tackle the issue of Sandy Hook. We are normal people with normal lives, who have families, children, and jobs. Although many of us haven”t physically met each other, we are united. All we seek are answers to the many inconsistencies. But most importantly, we just want the truth made available to all who might seek it. Over the past two years, efforts to explain and expose the Sandy Hook event may seem to have slowed down.
